TAI CHI - BEGINNERS
The Tai Chi practiced in this class is gentle and straight forward to learn. The exercises are designed to improve mobility and aid relaxation. The pace of this class is set for people just beginning on their Tai Chi journey. The practices taught will improve balance and stability, and be beneficial for your physical health and mental well-being. This class is suitable for everyone.
The class starts with a few simple exercises to loosen up the body, relax and improve flexibility. Next, simple Tai Chi movements to improve the mind/body co-ordination, calm and settle the mind, and
get the Qi energy flowing. The form is taught in small sections each lesson. Everyone is encouraged to practice at their own level.
TAI CHI - ADVANCED
The class starts with exercises to stretch the whole body. Standing meditation postures are used to empty and calm the mind and increase the flow of Qi energy. Tai Chi movement drills support
students to learn the fundamental techniques essential to good practice. We then apply these practices in learning the more complex Tai Chi Form. The long form is broken down into smaller
sections as each posture is described in intricate and precise detail. The approach taken means you will not waste time learning the wrong method, as is sometimes the case in some schools.
In the second class (1hr) we practice the martial arts aspects of Tai Chi including the use of weapons.
Students will learn the Pao Chui Cannon Pounding Form, also called the Fighting Form. The emphasis is on fast and explosive Fajin movements that help teach and improve the self-defence/combat
elements of Tai Chi. Secondly we train in the use of martial arts weapons. We are currently working on the Tai Chi wooden Staff Form and its applications.Anyone experiencing serious medical health issues or injuries are not recommended to do this class
due to its high level of physical and mental intensity.
GENTLE EXERCISE - HEALTH & MOBILITY
This class is suited for persons of all ages and ability. We do a series of traditional Chinese exercises to give the body a very thorough and gentle stretch. The movements improve mobility and restore
good health. Exercises are practiced standing and can be adapted to be done on a chair.
The class begins with a brief warm up before doing several different sequences to continue stretching the whole body, improving balance and stability. All of the exercises are designed to bring specific health benefits and are done slowly with deep breathing.
Simple and effective.
WUDANG - INTERNAL KUNG FU
The original Zhang Sanfeng Internal System is working at the highest level of internal martial arts practice. This system is at the origin of all other internal systems and underlies other practices including Tai Chi, Ba Gua and Hsing-Yi. There are 12 main forms in this system. There are many types of training drills which, in turn, have 12 variations each. Training drills for fighting applications combine solo forms and working with partners. Weapons used include knives and sticks as well as the more traditional weapons such as swords and spears.
