WHAT SHOULD I WEAR FOR CLASS
Anything comfortable. Always good to bring a warm top to wear for any of the more meditative exercises.
Simple flat soled pumps for your feet are good.
HOW DO I PAY
Payment is taken in class in cash - £10
WHAT SHOULD I BRING WITH ME
Always a good idea to bring some water with you.
Mobile phones should be switched to Silent Mode if possible while in class.
All exercises are standing so no Yoga Mat is needed.
IS THERE ANY PARKING
Yes. All classes have their own large onsite Car Park.
IS TAI CHI A RELIGIOUS PRACTICE?
No - Tai Chi has nothing to do with Religion.
Tai Chi practitioners around the world can be members of any Religion or faith.
Tai Chi is a Health Practice & also a Martial Art. It promotes a peaceful & natural life.
Does Tai Chi Self Defence involve contact or sparring?
Yes & No. Contact is usually only made to the arms.
Tai Chi practiced as a Martial Art involves striking to Qi Energy points on the body. Therefore, contact to more vulnerable areas such as the head, neck and eyes is too dangerous.
So called Free Sparring as practiced in many martial arts is also not done as it gives a false sence of security and does not represent the reality of attack and defence in the real world.
Tai Chi fighting methods are often designed with a three step principle - Stun, KO, Kill. Any one of these can be applied as appropiate for the situation.
Training drills are practiced with a partner to instill natural reactive responses to end an attack rapidly.
Everyone trains at a level suitable for them.
