What is Wild Goose Qigong

Wild Goose Qigong (in Chinese Dayan Qigong) is an ancient Chinese movement practice that mimics the flight and habits of wild geese to promote health and longevity.

History and Origins

  • Creation: Daoist monks developed the practice in Western China's Kunlun Mountains during the Jin Dynasty about 1,700 years ago.

  • Inspiration: Monks watched wild geese because the birds were symbols of long life and unity.

  • Structure of the Practice

  • The Sets: The system includes two main sets of 64 movements, totaling 128 core movements.

  • First 64 Movements: This set focuses on the post-natal body, using graceful movements to release old energy and gather fresh energy. The overall effect for health is to help heal any conditions/illness we have developed through our life.

  • Second 64 Movements: This set focuses on the pre-natal body and deeper spiritual or universal energy connection. The overall effect for health is to help to heal any congenital/genetic conditions or illness.

Health Benefits

  • Flexibility: Stretching and bending motions loosen joints and warm the waist and kidneys.

  • Energy Flow: Fluttering actions help clear blockages and release toxins from the body channels.

  • Relaxation: Deep breathing combined with gentle movement reduces stress and calms the mind.
